Implementing the direction of the Director of Hanoi City Police, from the afternoon of December 29, 2024 to the morning of January 1, 2025, the entire Capital Police force mobilized 100% of its personnel to perform duties.
In particular, the Traffic Police force coordinates with other forces to be on duty at roads, entertainment areas, fireworks display sites, places of worship, etc. to ensure traffic safety, prevent crime and promptly handle arising situations.

At 8:00 p.m. on January 28 (December 29), on National Highway 1A, passing through Thuong Tin District (Hanoi), the working group of Road Traffic Police Team No. 8 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) began their shift. This is also a special shift of the year because the officers and soldiers will be on duty from one year to the next. For them, welcoming the New Year's Eve on the street with their teammates is very familiar.
"Team members often encourage each other to try their best, ensuring the safety of thousands of trips back and forth is our top priority. During our shifts, we take advantage of short breaks to call our families.
Hearing my wife and children's voices on the other end of the line makes me feel more confident, and is also a source of encouragement for me to complete my assigned tasks well," Captain Nguyen Duy Diep - Officer of Traffic Police Team No. 8 shared.
Sharing the same sentiment, Major Ngo Xuan Giang - Officer of Traffic Police Team No. 8 said that although he was used to the task, the feeling of homesickness during the sacred New Year's Eve moment still made him choke up.
According to Major Giang, for every traffic police officer, New Year's Eve without fireworks, without a New Year's Eve dinner, just the night and the passing cars has become very special.
"Not only do relatives call to encourage us, but people participating in traffic also often share with us. They happily cooperate when the authorities request to check, then send New Year greetings and thanks for ensuring safety for people traveling during the spring. This is a huge source of motivation for each soldier," Major Ngo Xuan Giang shared.

Regarding the need to ensure 100% of the force is "on duty" during the transition between the old year and the new year, sharing with reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tuan Cuong - Deputy Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 8 said that on nights like this, the traffic police force not only ensures smooth traffic but also has to be highly vigilant, prevent violations and protect everyone's safety.
Like other officers and soldiers in the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Cuong shared that every year, celebrating New Year's Eve on the street has its own unique emotions. Tet away from home is a trade-off for each soldier, in return for the peace of the people.

As the clock struck New Year's Eve, people like Major Ngo Xuan Giang, Captain Nguyen Duy Diep, and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tuan Cuong quietly sacrificed their personal happiness to protect the happiness and peace of the people.
For them, the mission is only truly complete when people travel safely on the roads and welcome a peaceful and happy new year with their loved ones and families.
