On September 17, the People's Committee of Bac Gianh ward (Quang Tri province) said that the unit had handed over a golden mountain turtle to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms - Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
The handover was carried out on September 16 at the headquarters of Bac Gianh Ward People's Committee. The turtle was transferred for rescue, care, nurturing and management according to regulations.
Previously, in Quang Phuc residential group, people and functional forces discovered a golden mountain turtle with the scientific name Indotestudo elongata, weighing about 0.9kg, straying in the area.
After receiving information, Bac Gianh Ward People's Committee directed specialized departments to coordinate inspection, verification and implement initial handling steps to ensure the safety of the turtle individual.
The People's Committee of Bac Gianh ward then issued a notice for organizations and individuals who are owners or legal managers of individual animals to know, contact and provide legal documents and papers according to regulations.
According to the notice, the deadline is determined to be within 5 working days, from September 15 to the end of September 21. The information is posted at the headquarters of the Ward People's Committee, posted on the electronic information page and announced through the grassroots broadcasting system.
Bac Gianh Ward People's Committee said that after the notice period expires, if the owner or legal manager cannot be identified, or the individual animal is not identified as exhibits or material evidence of the law violation, the locality will coordinate with relevant agencies and units to decide on the handling plan according to current regulations.
