On the afternoon of August 11, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tung - Head of the Economic Department of Thach Ha Commune People's Committee - said that an outbreak had just appeared in the locality when 7 cows of 5 households in Nam Son village contracted foot-and-mouth disease.
Immediately after detecting livestock disease, Thach Ha Commune People's Committee requested livestock households to urgently isolate livestock herds, implement prevention and control measures and stamp out the epidemic according to instructions.
Request livestock households to clean, disinfect, and sterilize barns; limit people and vehicles from entering and leaving areas with sick livestock; do not graze together or let healthy livestock come into contact with herds of sick or suspected sick livestock.
Thach Ha Commune People's Committee also recommends that people proactively fully vaccinate buffaloes and cows; regularly monitor the health of livestock, sanitize, disinfect, and sterilize barns.
When detecting livestock showing signs of suspected illness, people should immediately notify the village head or professional staff; absolutely do not arbitrarily sell, slaughter or transport sick or suspected livestock.
According to Thach Ha Commune People's Committee, proactive vaccination is one of the important measures to protect livestock herds, limit the spread of diseases and reduce economic damage to livestock farmers.
