On January 9th, information from the People's Committee of Hoang Thanh commune, Thanh Hoa province, said that functional forces had just completed the relocation of 5 "giant hands" at Hai Tien beach, after these items were tilted and collapsed by the storm.

Representatives of the Hoang Hoa Regional Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the unit is completing the demolition and relocation stages of the remaining items to restore space to the beach.
According to the People's Committee of Hoang Thanh commune, the forced relocation of the "giant hands" stems from the fact that in 2025, storms No. 5 and No. 10 caused big waves and strong winds, causing the "5 giant hands" project to be tilted, affecting the aesthetics and safety of the beach area.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, in March 2023, 5 giant arms appeared on Hai Tien beach (old Hoang Hoa, Thanh Hoa), each arm nearly 5m high (from the base to the finger), placed hundreds of meters apart along the beach.
Right from the time of construction, many people expressed disagreement, saying that the project occupies the beach area and poses potential dangers for tourists when swimming in the sea, especially in conditions where big waves can hit concrete pillars.

According to the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa (old), these 5 arms belong to the project to renovate and upgrade the coastal road through Hoang Tien and Hoang Thanh, with a total cost of more than 10 billion VND. The 5 arms item alone costs about 300 million VND from the budget. The project was once expected to be a watchtower for rescue forces to observe and handle when incidents occurred.
However, after more than 2 years of use, the stairs and roofs on the "hands" have been removed. Especially, after storm No. 5 and storm No. 10 in 2025, up to 4 out of 5 arms were tilted, posing a risk of collapse, forcing functional agencies to organize demolition and relocation.
