Golden Kite Awards 2025: Red Rain, Timeless Great Victory

The Canh Dieu Award 2025 recognized 164 works participating in the competition, including 15 feature films, 13 television feature films with a total of more than 400 episodes, along with categories of animated films, science films, documentaries and short films. Each work is a perspective, an approach and a serious creative effort of Vietnamese artists and filmmakers.

This year, due to limited funding, the award was held in a cozy space at Dai Nam cinema (Hanoi). However, the prestigious film awards ceremony still gathered a large number of artists, actors, film crews, and artists across the country.

Mr. Do Lenh Hong Tu - Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association said: "Through 22 Golden Kite seasons, with 3 seasons Golden Kite has spread its wings in the sea sky (Khanh Hoa). Today, Golden Kite returns to Hanoi Capital, returning to the hearts of film lovers across the country.

This is an honor for those who work in cinema and television - those who have worked hard, contributed, and created with intelligence and strength. The contributions of film artists are undeniable, because they are talent, preservation of identity, rich new topics and new storytelling methods, both modern but still retaining the core of human values".

In that spirit, the 2025 Golden Kite Awards continue to honor outstanding works and individuals in the field of filmmaking.

Notably, in the Film category, "Red Rain" was the work that won the Golden Kite Award for Best Feature Film. Along with that, the film was also honored in 2 categories: Best Film Director (People's Artist Dang Thai Huyen) and Best Supporting Actor in the Film category (Nguyen Phuong Nam as Ta).

In addition, 3 films Murder in the Air, Tunnel: Sun in the Shadows and Sister-in-Law also received the Silver Kite award. 3 films Mang me di do, Bo tu bao thu and Thanh am vuot dai duong received Certificates of Merit from the Organizing Committee (BTC).

This year, the Organizing Committee selected 2 artists who won the Best Leading Actress award in the Film category: Artist Hong Dao (as Le Thi Hanh in the movie Mang me di bo) and Viet Huong (as Mrs. Nhi in the movie Chi dau). The Best Leading Actor award belonged to Tuan Tran (as Hoan in the movie Mang me di bo).

Due to an injury while filming a new movie, Tuan Tran had to stand on crutches on stage to receive the award. The male actor shared: "Today, the joy is doubled when I and Dao's mother (artist Hong Dao) received an extremely meaningful award.

The two awards are not only for me and Dao's mother but also collective awards. Thank you to the crew of "Mang Me Di Khoa" and all the audience for supporting me and the film. I promise to try harder in the next roles in my career".

In the TV Series category, Timeless is the most impressive work when it won the Golden Kite award along with a series of other awards including: Best Actor (Nguyen Manh Truong as Lieutenant Colonel Dai), Best Supporting Actress (Pham Thi Bich Ngoc as Mien), Best Screenwriter (Trinh Khanh Ha, Huyen Le, Pham Ngoc Ha Le), Best Director (Meritorious Artist Nguyen Danh Dung), Best Cinematography (Meritorious Artist Tran Anh Phuong)...

Receiving the prestigious Golden Kite award for his spiritual child, director Nguyen Danh Dung shared: "For artists like us, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers through the periods is both inspiration and pride to recreate in movies.

I would like to thank the film crew, the Ministry of National Defense, Vietnam Television and all the localities we have visited in the process of making this work".

Meanwhile, actor Manh Truong sent words of thanks to the entire film crew of No Time: "I feel very lucky to be able to participate in a very special and meaningful project called No Time.

For me, this is a collective award because for more than 1 year, the entire crew has tried, made a lot of effort. And thanks to that effort, I am lucky to be standing here today.

In addition, the Silver Kite award for the TV series belonged to Hoa sua ve trong gio (Director Bui Tien Huy), Doc dao (Director Tran Trong Khoi, Pham Gia Phuong). Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy won the Best Leading Actress award for the role of Mrs. Truc in the movie Hoa sua ve trong gio.
