Social insurance answers about transferring health insurance benefits from 80% to 100%

Ninh Binh Provincial Social Insurance informs about the necessary procedures when transferring health insurance benefits to near-poor households.

Sending a question to the Social Insurance agency, reader P.T asked: "I have acute leukemia and am being treated at Bach Mai Hospital, receiving 80% health insurance. Now I want to apply for 100% health insurance.

Please ask, I have applied for near-poor household benefits and am being treated for a serious illness (who has been clearly identified), what additional procedures do I need to do?

Ninh Binh Provincial Social Insurance answers this question as follows:

Point a, Clause 1, Article 2 of Resolution No. 261/2025/QH15 dated December 11, 2025 of the National Assembly stipulating a number of special mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs for the work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health stipulates:

People participating in health insurance belonging to near-poor households, elderly people from 75 years of age or older who are receiving social pension benefits are applied a 100% benefit level for medical examination and treatment costs within the scope of health insurance participants".

Thus, for the case of the reader, who has already submitted a dossier to apply for near-poor household status, when the reader is confirmed by the local government, the social insurance agency will base on the list sent by the local government to convert the benefit code for the reader from the benefit of 80% of medical examination and treatment costs to the benefit of 100% of medical examination and treatment costs.
