On December 17, Kinh Ton & do thi Newspaper coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment to summarize the 2025 Environmental Protection Communication Program, and awarded the 5th Hanoi Environmental Protection Writing Contest.
Speaking at the summary ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Kinh To & Urban Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the 2025 program will be implemented in the context of many challenges, when localities and agencies implement the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus; the two-level local government model comes into operation; many press agencies are merged and consolidated, along with the heavy impact of natural disasters and floods in some localities.
"Under those conditions, maintaining a long-term environmental communication program with professional depth and social influence is a great effort. However, with the attention and close direction of Hanoi City leaders, the coordination of departments, branches, localities and the support of the business community, the program is still being implemented seriously, methodically, and on target," said the Editor-in-Chief of Kinh Dong & Urban Newspaper.

In 2025, the program focuses on 2 key contents including the Writing Contest on Environmental Protection in Hanoi and communication activities, including the seminar "Waste classification at source: From commitment to action" held in early November in Hoang Liet ward.
The seminar attracted the participation of experts, managers, businesses and about 300 delegates, contributing to removing obstacles in the process of implementing waste classification at source. The highlight of the program continues to be the Writing Contest.
Although the implementation period is less than 5 months, the Organizing Committee still received 3,560 entries, an increase of 584 entries compared to 2024 and nearly 12 times compared to the first year of organization in 2020.
The contest attracted the participation of 213 organizations and units with 35 series of articles and more than 3,500 individual articles, presented in many modern press forms such as longform, eMagazine, megastory, multimedia.
The works focus on four main groups of topics: Waste classification, collection and treatment; improving the river and lake environment, craft villages and developing green agriculture; green transportation, reducing emissions and improving air quality; models, initiatives, and beautiful actions of organizations and individuals in environmental protection.

According to the Organizing Committee, the quality of this year's entries has increased significantly, many works approach the capital's environmental issues directly, with in-depth analysis, associated with practice and proposing feasible solutions.
Notable are the series of in-depth articles on urban "greening", inter-regional environmental reconstruction, and the revival of urban rivers, especially the To Lich River. The contest also noted the active participation of a team of non-professional authors including officials, teachers, students, police forces and people.
Notably, 119 schools in the capital participated with thousands of entries from teachers and students, contributing to spreading environmental protection awareness in the education sector.
As a result, the Organizing Committee selected 16 excellent works to award, including a First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 10 Encouragement Prizes.

Among the award-winning authors, the group of authors Ngo Van Cuong, Cao Hanh Thom, and Dinh Xuan Hiep of Lao Dong Newspaper won the Encouragement Prize with a series of 5-term articles: The hills that "fall down": Hanoi faces the problem of sustainable development.
On this occasion, the Hanoi People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 outstanding collectives and 3 individuals; The Organizing Committee commended 10 collectives and individuals with many contributions to the communication program on environmental protection in the capital in 2025.
