On the afternoon of November 6, Mr. Pham Thanh Liem - Chairman of Truong Sa Special Zone - said that storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) with gusts of level 14 and waves 6-8m high passed through Truong Sa archipelago but did not cause any human casualties.
Thanks to proactive response, the islands only broke some trees, all works and vehicles were safe.
As soon as the storm news was received, forces on the islands deployed an emergency response plan, ensuring absolute safety for people and property.

After the storm, by the afternoon of November 6, all islands in the Truong Sa Special Zone had basically overcome the consequences, cleared fallen trees and stabilized their lives.
The defense system, houses, infrastructure and boat mooring areas are all safe.
Before the storm made landfall, the island's forces issued warnings and instructed more than 300 fishing vessels with more than 3,000 fishermen operating in Truong Sa fishing port to take shelter.
The soldiers supported tying up, arranging boats, providing more than 20,000 liters of fresh water, food, medicine and arranging temporary accommodation for fishermen.
During the storm, officers and soldiers were on duty 24/7, regularly visiting and encouraging fishermen to take safety from the storm.
After the storm, the forces continued to support inspection, repair of boats, environmental sanitation and help fishermen return to fishing grounds soon.
The Truong Sa Special Zone has an area of about 500km2, located to the east and southeast of the Vietnam Sea. The island closest to the mainland is more than 450km from Cam Ranh.
In recent years, Truong Sa has not only strongly developed the marine economy - especially logistics services, shelters - but also expanded the field of scientific research, health, culture to serve soldiers, people and fishermen working long-term at sea.
