Common home full of sharing
Last week, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the Center for Nurturing and Nursing People with Meritorious Services No. 4 Hanoi welcomed 139 veterans and people with meritorious services to the revolution from 2 communes Gia Lam and Thuan An (Hanoi City). Throughout the holiday, the elderly men and women underwent general health check-ups, disease screening tests, examinations and direct consultations by doctors from Military Hospital 103. Not only stopping at physical care, the center also focused on improving spiritual life through activities such as visiting historical relics, screening documentaries, cultural exchanges, gentle sports competitions and organizing warm birthdays for people born in the month.
After a week of nursing at the Center, Mr. Dang Thanh Lam (Gia Lam commune) shared: "In the past few days here, my spirit and physical condition have clearly improved. Thanks to the doctors' dedicated guidance from rehabilitation exercises to a reasonable nutritional diet. What moves me the most is the warm atmosphere like in a family. Meeting veterans from localities, sitting together to tell stories of the old battlefield, I feel like I have rejuvenated, I see that comradeship is still intact as before.
In addition to the task of rotating nursing for thousands of people with meritorious services each year, the center is also a place to nurture and care for seriously wounded soldiers - those who have dedicated a part of their blood and bones to the cause of national liberation and bear permanent injuries.
Mr. Le Van Ty - a seriously wounded soldier who has lived with war wounds for 47 years, is currently receiving care at the center. The devastating artillery fire of the enemy years ago robbed him of his ability to move, seriously injured his spine and caused him to be completely paralyzed in the lower half of his body. With a body injury rate of up to 81%, all personal activities from the smallest of Mr. Ty for nearly half a century have completely depended on the support of his wife and staff at the center.
Recalling the old days, Mr. Ty confided with eyes full of respect: "47 years of suffering from war wounds, if it weren't for the persistent and dedicated care of relatives, my wife and even the nurses at the center, it would be difficult for me to go through such a long journey. From bathing, cleaning, to each dose of medicine every time the weather changes... everyone here does it with all the love as if for a family member. That dedication helps seriously wounded soldiers like us not feel left behind.
Patience and dedicated companionship
Caring for people with meritorious services has never been easy, because most of the elders are old, physically weak and carry many complex underlying diseases.
Deeply understanding these difficulties, the staff and nurses at the center always maintain the highest sense of responsibility, considering people with meritorious services as their own parents and relatives. Talking about her silent daily work, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (Treatment Nurse Team at the Center for Nursing and Nursing People with Meritorious Services No. 4 Hanoi) confided: "Taking care of the doctors and nurses requires great patience and meticulousness. Many veterans carry wounds that have not healed, every time the weather changes, the weather changes, it is severely painful, causing the doctors to lose sleep, be tired and sometimes their temperament becomes more sensitive. At such times, our medical staff not only use medical expertise to soothe the pain, but more importantly, are always present by their side, chatting, listening and encouraging their spirits. Playing the role of companions, we want the doctors to always feel warmth and peace of mind throughout the time of nursing at the center.
It is this understanding and patience that has become a priceless spiritual medicine, helping wounded and sick soldiers overcome persistent pains to fully enjoy their vacation.
Each period of nursing that closes is another journey of gratitude that is fully completed, sowing in the hearts of people with meritorious services beautiful memories and deep belief in the gratitude policy of the Party, State and Capital Government. Sharing about the nursing and care of people with meritorious services, Ms. Duong Tuyet Nhung - Director of Hanoi Center for Nursing and Nursing People with Meritorious Services No. 4 emphasized: "Caring for and supporting people with meritorious services is not simply completing an administrative task or a assigned target, but a command from the heart of the collective of officials and staff of the center. At Center No. 4, that spirit is maintained throughout 365 days of the year.
