In response to information from voters and public opinion that the Southern Da Nang Bus Station has been invested in a large amount but has been "shelved" for more than 10 years, causing waste, the Da Nang Department of Construction has issued an official response, affirming that the bus station is still operating normally and will soon have a roadmap to maximize efficiency.
In the document responding to voters' opinions before and after the 21st session, the 10th term People's Council of the city and the Department affirmed that the information about the project causing waste of state money was incorrect. The Southern Bus Station project was planned in 2008 and implemented in the form of a social call. Duc Long Gia Lai Group Joint Stock Company is the unit assigned to invest and build according to the decision of 2009, completely not using the state budget.
Regarding the operation status, the Southern Bus Station has been recognized by competent authorities as qualified and has been put into operation for many years. The bus station has been announced by the Ministry of Transport in the list of fixed passenger transport networks nationwide. In Da Nang, the Department of Construction has also recognized the bus station as meeting type 4 standards and publicly announced the bus schedule on the Department's website.
By the end of 2024, 30 enterprises had registered to exploit 24 fixed routes to Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Central Highlands provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. Every month, there are about 1,057 trips of vehicles departing and leaving the station with 64 vehicles registered to operate. The Department of Construction still periodically coordinates with bus stations and transport units to adjust the bus schedule to suit actual needs.
Currently, this bus station is being proposed by the City People's Committee to adjust the planning and implement the Plan to transfer fixed passenger transport routes between the Central Highlands and the South that are operating at Da Nang Bus Station to Da Nang Bus Station in Da Nang city. This plan is implemented according to the Da Nang City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
