After 11 years of construction, as of December 18, the 1,500-bed Hospital project (built in 2014 as a new facility of Binh Duong General Hospital in Chanh Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) has not yet been completed.
The main building of the 1,500-bed Hospital is designed with two 19-storey blocks, with a total construction floor area of 167,705 m2 that has been completed.
Notably, on top of the hospital roof, 2 helicopter landing areas are designed. Helicopters are calculated to serve air accident emergency care in emergency cases, shortening access time and handling serious patients from remote areas.
Inside the two buildings, a medical equipment system is being installed. Meanwhile, outside the hospital, contractors are continuing to construct the garages, build roads, miniatures, etc. According to records, the construction progress of the items outside the hospital is still very slow. Outside the hospital entrance, there is still a steel fence around it.
The wastewater treatment plant and treatment plant projects have been completed and equipment connection is installed. However, because other items have not been completed, they cannot be connected together for trial operation.
Thus, the promise to put the 1,500-bed Hospital into operation in 2025 continues to be "dead-end". Meanwhile, this is a medical project that has long been awaited by local people, especially workers and laborers.
It is known that the above project has an initial investment capital of only about 2,300 billion VND, and construction started in 2014. To date, the total approved investment capital has been increased to about VND4,500 billion.
Recently, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Binh Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board to speed up the progress, striving to complete and put the hospital into operation in 2026.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is also developing a comprehensive plan for transferring, arranging and training human resources for the 1,500-bed Hospital. Binh Duong General Hospital was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to proactively develop a plan to transition to a new facility with a scale of 1,500 beds. At the same time, ensure that the relocation process is carried out safely, effectively and without interruption.
