Vietnam Social Security has just issued a recommendation for people in the group of self-paying health insurance to extend their health insurance before the card expires and check information after paying money.
Participants can implement it through the Public Service Portal, a banking application with integrated social insurance and health insurance payment services or a support organization for target audience development; and at the same time monitor the participation process and card usage value on official channels.
Convenient health insurance card renewal through multiple channels
Participants can choose one of the forms that suit their conditions:
- Through the National Public Service Portal or the Vietnam Social Insurance Public Service Portal: Select the service "Register to pay and issue health insurance cards for people who only participate in health insurance".
Decision No. 3510/QD-BHXH dated November 21, 2022 of Vietnam Social Security determined that this process applies to both cases of first-time registration, continuing to pay health insurance and some cases of changing participating groups.
Participants declare information as required, the system checks and compares data, determines the amount to be paid; after successful online payment, participants receive an electronic receipt, result notification and health insurance card according to the registered method.
Currently, this service is provided by Vietnam Social Security at the full online level.
Through the bank's application: Participants can pay for health insurance card renewal online on the application of 4 banks, including: Vietnam Foreign Trade Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Vietcombank); Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank); Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank); Vietnam Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV).
Participants choose health insurance extension/payment services, enter identification information as required by the application; carefully check the information of the participant, the amount of money and the content of payment before confirming the transaction; and save the voucher or transaction code for lookup and comparison when needed.
Through the social insurance agency or the Social Insurance and Health Insurance Support Organization: Participants can go to the nearest social insurance agency or support organization for guidance and implementation of health insurance contributions.
When paying money, it is necessary to receive and keep receipts/refund documents, check information related to participants, the amount of money and the payment period.
According to the administrative procedures that Vietnam Social Security is announcing, the collecting unit is responsible for issuing receipts to participants and paying the collected amount to the social security agency daily through a bank account or utility system as prescribed.
Vietnam Social Security notes: The banking application is a channel to carry out health insurance payment/renewal transactions; while VssID - digital social insurance and VNeID are convenient channels to check and use health insurance card information. Participants should distinguish these two groups of utilities to fulfill their needs.
Proactively check the participation process and validity of the card after closing
Health insurance participants can monitor and check information through the following official channels:
- On the VssID - Social Insurance application number: Log in to your account to track information about the participation process; in the "Health Insurance Card" section, you can check card information, usage value and health insurance benefits.
- On the Vietnam Social Security Electronic Information Portal: access baohiemxahoi.gov.vn, select "Online lookup" → "Search for health insurance card usage value".
Users enter complete information as required. The search results show the main information such as the validity of the card, the place of registration for initial medical examination and treatment, and the time of completion of 05 consecutive years.
- On the VNeID application: if health insurance information has been integrated, users go to "Document Wallet", select "Health Insurance Card" to check card information.
- Via the Customer Care switchboard of Vietnam Social Security 1900 9068 or contact the Social Security agency directly for support in searching and comparing when information has not been updated or shows signs of inaccuracy.
Vietnam Social Security recommends that people form the habit of checking the validity of their health insurance card before the old card expires and check again after completing the payment/renewal transaction.
When detecting data that has not been updated or does not match the submitted documents, it is necessary to keep receipts, documents/transaction codes and immediately contact the place that received the money or the social insurance agency for inspection and handling.
Early detection of problems helps limit the risk of interruption of card validity and ensure full benefits when going for medical examination and treatment with health insurance.
Vietnam Social Security continues to improve public service channels, digital applications and strengthen the management of activities of organizations supporting subject development, aiming to serve participants conveniently, transparently, and safely; and at the same time ensure that the participation process, contribution - benefit data and health insurance benefits of people are recorded fully and continuously.
