Thanh Hoa Secretary becomes Head of the Steering Committee for GPMB of the high-speed railway project through the area

The Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee will be the Head of the Steering Committee for GPMB of the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis through the province.

The high-speed railway project on the North - South axis was decided by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 dated November 30, 2024, the section through Thanh Hoa province is about 95.33km long, passing through 7 districts, towns and cities (18 communes and wards after the completion of local government at 2 levels).

The total area of affected land to be recovered is about 586.47 hectares (including residential land of 91.3 hectares; agricultural land and other land of 495.17 hectares); the expected number of households having to relocate and resettle is 2,074 households/39 resettlement areas; production and business establishments, technical infrastructure works, public works (schools, agencies, cemeteries, etc.) affected must relocate about 34 works.

To implement the project, on June 17, 2025, the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee issued Conclusion No. 3585-KL/TU to establish a Steering Committee for Site Clearance (GPMB) and a Working Group for the Steering Committee for GPMB of the High-Speed Railway project on the North-South axis through Thanh Hoa province.

Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee is the Head of the Committee, Mr. Do Minh Tuan - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee is the Standing Deputy Head of the Committee.

On June 28, 2025, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a Plan to implement the North-South High-Speed Railway project through Thanh Hoa province. Accordingly, the construction progress of resettlement areas must be completed by September 2026; basically complete, hand over the site to the construction contractor before December 2026 and complete all site clearance work in the first quarter of 2027 according to the Government's request.

Currently, localities are organizing the implementation of investment in 39 resettlement areas (TDC) in 16 communes and wards after the consolidation of 2-level local governments with a total area of 287.14 hectares, with a total implementation cost of about 3,752 billion VND.

To date, the infrastructure of 1 resettlement area in My Phong village, Cong Chinh commune, Nong Cong district has been completed; procedures have been completed and the design is approved and 5 areas are being cleared; detailed planning (GHPCT) has been completed and 5 projects are being implemented; detailed planning for 26 areas is being prepared and people are being consulted on the location of the 2 resettlement areas.
