On May 9, Politburo Member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi City Tran Duc Thang inspected the field of management, operation, exploitation, and inter-agency ticketing of urban railway line No. 3.1 elevated section (Nhon - Cau Giay); construction organization at underground station S12 (line 3.1) under the Hanoi City Pilot Urban Railway Project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section.
Expected trial of connecting metro passengers with electric bicycles/motorbikes
According to a report by Hanoi Railway One Member Limited Liability Company, the company is operating 2 urban railway lines. Among them, urban railway line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong officially went into commercial operation from November 6, 2021.
The city's pilot urban railway line (line No. 3), Nhon - Hanoi Station section, has a total length of 12.5km.
As of the end of April 30, 2 urban railway lines have carried out over 493,000 train trips, transporting over 62.2 million passengers, ensuring absolute safety during operation.
Currently, passengers can use the Hanoi Metro Apps to book a Door to Door inter-circuit journey combining Metro and Be with just 1 payment.
It is expected to test the connection of Metro passengers with Tri Nam electric bicycles/motorbikes at the end of June 2026. Specifically, implement monthly ticket combo for passengers through the integration of Hanoi Metro Apps with Tri Nam bicycles. Passengers can activate Tri Nam electric bicycles/motorbikes using Hanoi Metro Apps, move to the station, use the train to the nearest station and use Tri Nam electric bicycles/motorbikes to reach the final destination.
By March 21, 100% of passengers used applications for identification, electronic authentication and biometric identification on urban railway lines. To date, nearly 8.6 million passengers have used the new system, nearly 70% of passengers use electronic identification and biometrics; over 50% of passengers buying single tickets and 94% of passengers buying monthly tickets use non-cash payment methods.
According to the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board, the Hanoi City Pilot Urban Railway Project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section is the first underground Metro project of Hanoi City. Currently, the elevated section from Nhon - Cau Giay has been completed and put into operation and exploitation. The underground section including 4km of underground tunnel, 4 underground stations, 1 escape well is being implemented simultaneously, the construction progress has reached 79.3%, basically meeting the progress.
According to the schedule, the project needs to complete the installation of system and equipment in April 2027; conduct testing, system integration, adjustment and trial operation to be completed in December 2027; put the underground section into commercial operation from December 2027.

Completing the project progress as committed by the end of 2027
At the inspection, Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Duc Thang and the city's working delegation directly experienced the electronic ticket control system applying electronic identification, authentication and biometric identification and learned about urban railway services in the Nhon - Cau Giay elevated section.
Recognizing the efforts of Hanoi Railway One Member Limited Liability Company, Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Duc Thang emphasized that it is necessary to comprehensively assess the effectiveness; and at the same time study and build a model for managing and operating urban railways that is strong enough in terms of financial capacity and technical expertise to ensure the effectiveness of management, operation and maintenance of the system.

Directly inspecting the construction of underground station S12, Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Duc Thang directed the City People's Committee and relevant departments and branches to pay attention to removing difficulties and obstacles so that the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board and contractors can complete the project progress according to commitments by the end of 2027.
