According to Dr. Tang Xuan Hai - Director of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital - by October 24, all victims of the attack that occurred on the morning of October 23 at the Neonatal Department had passed the critical stage and were continuing to be monitored and treated.

Previously, according to a report from Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, at around 10:00 a.m. on October 23, in room 304, Neonatal Department, a patient's family member attacked with a knife, injuring 7 people.
The suspect was identified as Bang Van Vy (born in 1996, from Bac Ninh, residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An). Vy's wife, Ms. L.T.K (born in 1999), gave birth to twins on October 17, and her two young daughters are being treated at the Neonatal Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
On the morning of October 23, when the hospital transferred one of the two children to the Neonatal Resuscitation Department, Vy was not present.
At around 10:03 a.m. the same day, the subject suddenly returned to the hospital room, brought a fruit knife and attacked a series of people in the room. At that time, there were 28 people in the room, including 14 children and caregivers.
Initially, Vy intended to attack his wife and biological child but failed, then controlled another newborn baby, strangled and stabbed his grandmother, Phan Thi Tu, along with nurse Nguyen Thi Nhung (Do Luong General Hospital, who is studying there).
Next, he controlled another newborn baby and stabbed his grandmother Ngo Thi Thu Thuy in the neck. Hearing the screams, nurse Tran Thi Hong rushed in to get the baby back, took him to a safe place with the support of her colleague Phan Thi Oanh.
During the chaos, nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang was chased into the duty room and stabbed repeatedly; nurse Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai was also attacked in the department's hallway.
The hospital security force and Truong Vinh Ward Police promptly arrived to control Vy and hand him over to Nghe An Provincial Police for investigation.
Among the victims, female nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang was most seriously injured with about 11 stabs, including 4 times deep into the neck and chest, causing shock, blood loss, and blood overflow of the right lung.
Ms. Trang was quickly transferred by her colleagues and hospital leaders to Nghe An General Friendship Hospital for timely emergency care. Thanks to emergency surgery during the "golden time", her health has temporarily stabilized and is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of surgery.
