On the morning of October 24, Mr. Hoang Phu Hien - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and leaders of the local Department of Health visited Nghe An General Hospital to visit and encourage nurses and patients injured in the attack that occurred at the Neonatal Department - Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital on the morning of October 23.
Here, Mr. Hoang Phu Hien visited the victims' health and praised the brave spirit of the medical team who risked their lives to protect the newborn in times of danger. He requested the hospital and the health sector to mobilize maximum human and material resources to provide emergency care, treatment, and attention to the victims; at the same time, provide timely encouragement and support for injured medical staff.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Nghe An Provincial Police to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the incident, strictly handle the perpetrators; review and strengthen measures to ensure security and safety for medical staff and patients at medical examination and treatment facilities across the province.
Previously, at around 8:00 a.m. on October 23, the subject Ban Van Vy (born in 1996, from Bac Ninh, residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An) suddenly took a knife and rushed into the Neonatal Department - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, attacking 7 people, including 3 nurses, 2 children and 2 relatives, injuring them.
In a state of chaos, the subject tried to harm his wife and biological children, then strangled a newborn girl. The old lady promptly rushed to help her but was stabbed many times. Nurses Nguyen Thi Nhung, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, Nguyen Thuy Trang bravely took control and saved all newborns from the tragedy.
Vy was then controlled by the hospital security force and the police. Currently, the victims have overcome the critical stage and their health is gradually stabilizing.
Nghe An Provincial Police are continuing to investigate and handle the case according to the law.
