On the afternoon of the 29th of Tet, officers and soldiers of Bach Long Vi Island Defense Battalion (PTKV1-Gia Vien Command, Hai Phong City Military Command) together prepared a year-end meal, laughter and laughter echoed in the barracks.
The year-end meal is a very meaningful activity for officers and soldiers of the Battalion. Therefore, right from the last days of the year, the Party Committee - Battalion Command has proactively developed plans, assigned specific tasks, ensuring that the year-end meal is organized thoughtfully, solemnly, safely and economically. Effectively taking advantage of the results of increased production, from green vegetable beds, poultry flocks cared for by soldiers themselves, each dish is prepared carefully, showing the spirit of self-reliance and self-strengthening of island soldiers. The atmosphere of preparing the meal takes place bustling but orderly, clearly showing the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of the unit's collective.

Gathering around the year-end meal tray, soldiers give each other handshakes, sincere wishes, and share stories about family and homeland. In a place nearly 140 km from the mainland, all homesickness gradually subsides. The meal becomes a "connecting thread", helping officers and soldiers understand more, trust and be ready to stand shoulder to shoulder in performing their duties.
For young soldiers who are celebrating Tet away from their families for the first time, the year-end meal on the frontline island becomes even more sacred and memorable. Corporal Do Van Thai - Soldier of the Infantry Company, expressed: "This is the first time I have celebrated Tet away from home. Initially, I could not avoid feeling homesick, but when I was able to prepare and attend the year-end meal with my brothers and comrades in the unit, I really felt the warmth of comradeship. That helps me feel secure in my work, clearly defining the responsibility of a soldier on duty on the frontline island of the Fatherland.

Major Pham Xuan Nha - Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of the Battalion shared that today's year-end meal is an opportunity for each officer and soldier to look back at the past work journey, appreciate the results achieved by the unit in difficult and deprived conditions. The Party Committee - Battalion Command always determines that caring for the spiritual life of soldiers is an important factor in building firm political bravery, consolidating belief and determination to excellently complete all assigned tasks.
Although organizing Tet and year-end celebrations in a warm and meaningful atmosphere, the Battalion still strictly maintains the combat readiness regime, not to be passive or surprised in any situation. "Happy New Year but not forgetting tasks, each officer and soldier needs to continue to uphold vigilance, firmly hold their guns, firmly protect sea and island sovereignty, and maintain peace at the forefront of the Fatherland" - Major Pham Xuan Nha emphasized.
