On January 14, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the initial cause of the particularly serious accident was determined to be that passenger car driver Phan Van Tr. (driver of a 16-seater passenger car) and Trinh Khac H. (driver of a tractor-trailer, license plate 36C-111.xx) did not pay attention to observation, did not maintain a safe distance from the car in front, leading to the accident.
Immediately after the incident occurred, Colonel Trinh Van Giang - Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, directly arrived at the scene, urgently directed and mobilized traffic police, fire and rescue police and functional units to deploy rescue and relief work, take victims to the emergency room, organize scene examination, and regulate and guide traffic, preventing prolonged congestion.
Along with that, the Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police visited and encouraged the injured victims at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital; and at the same time requested the hospital to maximize human resources, equipment, and medicine to rescue and take the best care of the injured, and support necessary procedures if the family needs to transfer hospitals or transfer lines.
According to initial information, all the victims on the passenger car were relatives, from Dong Loc commune, Ha Tinh province. The whole group rented a car with license plate 38C-229.xx driven by driver Phan Van Tr., going from Ha Tinh to Hung Yen province to meet with representatives of the bride's family, preparing for the wedding ceremony.
When the car was moving to Dong Tien commune, Thanh Hoa province, a serious accident unfortunately occurred, killing 4 people and injuring 6 others.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.
According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, at about 3:30 am on the same day, at Km334+300 of the Mai Son - National Highway 45 highway (section passing Dong Tien commune, Thanh Hoa province), a particularly serious traffic accident occurred between 3 cars, killing 4 people and injuring 6 others.
At the time of the accident, a 16-seater passenger car, license plate 38C-229.xx, driven by Phan Van Tr. (born 1986, residing in Dong Loc commune, Ha Tinh province), carrying 9 people, traveling in the direction of Nghe An - Hanoi, crashed into the rear of the left side of the trailer truck with license plate 35RM-005.xx of a tractor-trailer with license plate 35A-463.xx, driven by Bui Van H. (born 1990, residing in Phu Son commune, Ninh Binh province), parked on the outer lane, next to the right side of the road.
After the collision, the passenger car turned sideways and continued to be hit from behind by a tractor-trailer with license plate 36C-111.xx, pulling a semi-trailer with license plate 36RM-001.xx, driven by Trinh Khac H. (born 1989, residing in Yen Ninh commune, Thanh Hoa province).
As a result, the accident killed 2 people on the spot, 2 people died on the way to the hospital, the remaining 5 people and the driver were injured and are being treated at the hospital. At the scene, all 3 vehicles were heavily damaged, with estimated damage of about 400 million VND.
