Spreading gratitude from healthcare to social security
One of the outstanding activities is the health check-up program for more than 1,500 policy beneficiaries, mainly implemented at Ca Mau General Hospital and Bac Lieu General Hospital.
In parallel with that, the health sector organizes many mobile examination points to serve people with meritorious services, wounded soldiers, elderly people and policy families facing difficulties in traveling.
Doctor CKII Vuong Huu Tien - Deputy Director of Ca Mau Provincial Department of Health - said that the health sector fully implements the examination process according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health, especially focusing on paraclinical techniques to detect diseases early.
This is not only a health care activity but also a sentiment and responsibility to show gratitude to those who have contributed to the country, helping the aunts and uncles live happily and healthily, and continue to educate children and grandchildren to promote revolutionary traditions," Mr. Tien shared.
At the grassroots level, gratitude work is also regularly implemented. Mr. Tran Anh Khiem - Vice Chairman of Phuoc Long Commune People's Committee - said that every year the locality organizes visits and gifts to policy families, and at the same time reviews difficult cases to support housing construction, livelihood development, and create conditions to stabilize long-term life.
According to Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang, this year's anniversary, the province sets a goal to start construction and strive to complete 369 houses for children of resistance war activists. Along with that are activities of offering incense and flowers at martyrs' cemeteries, organizing many working delegations to visit Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, people with meritorious services and families of martyrs; and at the same time renovate and repair cemeteries and martyrs' memorial works in the area.
In recent days, many working delegations of the province have directly visited and presented gifts to policy families. The working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Binh Tan - Deputy Head of the full-time delegation of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation - visited families of sick soldiers, wounded soldiers and resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins in Phu Tan commune.
Meanwhile, the working delegation led by Mr. Bui Tan Bay - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - visited 5 typical policy families in Ho Thi Ky commune, presented each family with a gift worth 3 million VND and expressed gratitude for their contributions and sacrifices for the cause of national liberation.
In Chau Thoi commune, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Le Thanh Trieu also visited, encouraged and presented gifts to three typical wounded soldiers, recognizing the contributions of the families to the cause of fighting for national independence, and at the same time wishing the wounded soldiers to continue to be role models for the younger generation to follow.
Improving policies to deepen gratitude
In addition to visits and direct care activities, Ca Mau continues to improve mechanisms and policies to solve long-standing problems in gratitude work.
On June 10, 2026, the Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 42/2026/NQ-HĐND stipulating the level of support for building new, repairing, and upgrading martyrs' graves to be buried on damaged and degraded family land. The resolution takes effect from July 1, 2026, creating a legal basis for localities to implement support after many years of encountering obstacles.
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Home Affairs, the whole province is currently implementing preferential policies for more than 185,000 people with meritorious services to the revolution, including more than 31,560 martyrs and more than 4,660 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
To date, more than 20,760 sets of martyrs' remains have been collected and buried at martyrs' cemeteries. However, there are still about 5,500 martyrs' graves being cared for by relatives on family land. Through review, there are 1,290 degraded graves, including 83 graves that need to be newly built and 1,207 graves that need to be repaired and upgraded.
The issuance of the resolution is expected to remove difficulties in resources, help thousands of families of people with meritorious services to soon receive support to repair their relatives' graves, thereby expressing gratitude with specific and practical policies.
Not only stopping at major policies, the work of renovating martyrs' cemeteries is also being urgently implemented by localities. These days, workers of the Gia Rai Ward Public Utility Center are urgently cleaning, pruning trees, and renovating the grounds of Gia Rai Martyrs' Cemetery so that the resting place of heroic martyrs is always clean, beautiful, and solemn before July 27.
From health care, housing support, policy completion to embellishment of monuments, Ca Mau's series of gratitude activities not only demonstrates the responsibility of the government to people with meritorious services but also contributes to fostering the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source", educating the young generation about gratitude to those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
