News from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province on May 6th said that the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province officially approved the investment policy for the Provincial Road Upgrade Project DT. 978 (National Highway 1 - Quan Lo - Phung Hiep section), also known as Cau Sap - Ninh Quoi route, with a total capital of nearly 2,400 billion VND from the Central budget, provincial budget and other legal capital sources, in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026 - 2030.

The road has a length of more than 27.6 km, passing through communes: Hoa Binh, Vinh My, Chau Thoi, Vinh Thanh, Phuoc Long and Ninh Quoi; invested according to level III delta road standards, design speed of 80 km/h.
The project implementation time is expected to be in the period 2026 - 2029.
The provincial road upgrade project DT. 978 is identified as a key traffic infrastructure project, playing a key role in completing the regional traffic network.
The road not only ensures smooth connection between the provincial center and neighboring areas but is also an important driving force promoting socio-economic development, expanding urban space, effectively exploiting land funds and improving people's quality of life.
This is the second horizontal axis connecting National Highway 1 with the Quan Lo - Phung Hiep route to be upgraded with a large scale of capital. Previously, the Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee also approved the investment policy for the project to upgrade the road from Gia Rai to Pho Sinh, combined with the construction of the West bank of Lang Tram canal, about 22.2 km long, with a total capital of more than 2,200 billion VND, implemented in the period 2026 - 2029.
