On June 24, the Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent official dispatch directing functional agencies to handle false information related to dried shrimp products that are spreading on social networks.
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, recently information appeared with the content that Ca Mau Police surrounded a facility making dried shrimp made of young rubber in Cai Nuoc commune. However, through inspection and verification, competent authorities determined that there were no cases as rumored, and at the same time, no cases of production and trading of fake dried shrimp in Cai Nuoc commune were detected.

Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee determined that this information is unfounded, causing public confusion, affecting the investment, production, business environment and the reputation of the traditional dried shrimp brand of the locality. False information also negatively impacts consumer psychology and the consumption of specialty products of the province.
Faced with the above situation, the Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to urgently review and verify the source of information dissemination; clarify the responsibilities of organizations and individuals posting and sharing false content for handling according to legal regulations.
The Provincial Police are also assigned to proactively provide official information about the verification results of the case to the press; strengthen cyberspace monitoring, promptly detect and handle cases of continuing to post, share or distort information.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to promote propaganda and refute false information; strengthen the provision of accurate information to orient public opinion.
For the People's Committee of Cai Nuoc commune and communes and wards in the province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested to continue to inspect and supervise the production, processing and trading of dried shrimp; promptly detect and handle violations of goods quality, food safety and protect consumer rights if they arise.
Dried shrimp is one of the famous specialties of Ca Mau, widely consumed in the market inside and outside the province. The appearance of false information not only affects product reputation but also directly affects the production and business activities of many processing facilities and local households.
