On the morning of March 20, in the beach area of Hai Chau commune (Nghe An province), local people discovered a large whale carcass drifting ashore in a state of severe decomposition.
According to information from the leaders of Hai Chau Commune People's Committee, immediately after receiving the news, the local government quickly coordinated with functional forces and people to organize the salvage and treatment of fish carcasses according to regulations, while ensuring environmental sanitation in the coastal area.
Previously, at about 9 am on the same day, while fishing near the shore in the Phu Thanh hamlet area (belonging to the old Dien Kim commune, now Hai Chau commune), some fishermen suddenly discovered the body of a large whale washed ashore by waves.

At the time of discovery, the fish carcass had turned brownish-white, showed signs of decomposition, and emitted a strong stench.
Through initial inspection, specialized forces determined that the whale had died about a few weeks before being discovered. The whale is nearly 10 meters long, with an estimated weight of over 5 tons.
The incident attracted the attention of a large number of local people, many people were present at the scene to monitor the handling process.
After completing the salvage work, the local government chose the coastal forest area to dig a hole and carry out burial according to fishermen's customs, both ensuring spiritual elements and limiting the risk of environmental pollution and affecting the daily life of neighboring residential areas.
