At around 9:30 p.m. on October 29, people discovered a large whale straying, lying close to the edge of the water along Nguyen Tat Thanh beach, through Nam O ward. Immediately afterwards, many local fishermen quickly gathered, burned incense according to customs, expressing their condolences to the "protection god" at sea.


Border Guard forces quickly arrived at the scene to protect the area, avoiding curious people from approaching too close.
On the morning of October 30, authorities continued to be on duty at the scene, waiting for favorable weather to bring the whale's body to shore and bury it according to local customs.

In recent days, prolonged heavy rains have caused the Central provinces to suffer from major floods, the water level of Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers in Da Nang rose above the historical flood peak in 1964, outside the sea there were strong waves and strong winds. According to local residents, the whale was likely washed ashore by waves after dying at sea.
