On August 24, before the impact of storm No. 4, localities in Hung Yen province focused forces to overcome the consequences, drain water, ensure traffic safety, production and people's lives.
In Viet Yen commune, the Commune Police coordinated with the Commune Military Command and people in the area to overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 4, contributing to ensuring traffic safety, stabilizing people's lives and activities.
Due to the impact of storm No. 4, heavy rain and strong winds appeared in Viet Yen commune, causing some green trees and branches to break and fall; obstacles appeared on some roads, affecting travel, living and posing potential safety risks.
Viet Yen Commune Police have coordinated with the Commune Military Command, forces at the grassroots level and people to urgently inspect and review affected areas. Functional forces focus on clearing fallen trees and branches, clearing obstacles on traffic roads, clearing walkways, and ensuring safe and convenient traffic for people.
On the same day, in Hoan Long commune, commune leaders inspected the actual flooding situation and response to the impact of storm No. 4. The working delegation inspected the Bac Hung Hai river dike section through Xuan Trang hamlet, Xuan Dong village - an area identified as a weak dike.
Due to the impact of storm No. 4 and heavy rain in recent days, the river water level has risen, at times approaching the dike surface, posing a potential safety risk.
The delegation also inspected some canals and inland areas flooded in Dong Tao Dong, Tay Sa and Dong Tao Nam villages; requested functional forces and villages to closely monitor weather developments, proactively drain water, and protect production and people's property.
In Tan Hung commune, Mr. Bui Van Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, and the working delegation inspected the drainage system and flood prevention and control at Tan Hung Pumping Station, Hong Nam Pumping Station and some flooded longan garden areas.
At the inspection points, commune leaders requested functional forces to closely monitor weather developments, urgently clear flow at box culverts and drainage canals; and at the same time prepare 24/24 hour response plans to protect people's lives and minimize damage to agricultural production.
In Hong Quang commune, the People's Committee of Hong Quang commune directly inspected areas at risk of flooding, dykes and key irrigation works. Due to prolonged heavy rain, the water level of the Cuu Yen River rose, in some places close to the foot of the dyke; some areas of crops and roads in low-lying areas were locally flooded.
Faced with the above situation, Hong Quang commune mobilized excavators to collect duckweed, collect obstacles, and clear the flow; operated pumping stations, proactively opened culverts under the dyke to drain water and reduce pressure on the system. People also used small pumps to drain water in production areas, limiting damage to rice and crops.
