Phu Tho - Heavy rain has caused landslides in some areas of Tu Vu commune. Notably, the bank of Lat stream was eroded, causing some houses to be at risk of collapsing.

According to a report by the People's Committee of Tu Vu commune, the impact of heavy rain in recent days has caused landslides in 3 locations in the commune, including: riverbank in Trung Nghia village 8, riverbank in Dong Luan village 13 and Lat stream bank.

Located in hamlet 8 Trung Nghia (water procession road to Lang Suong Temple area), the landslide is about 50m long and about 7m deep. The current landslide situation is large-scale, posing a risk of further expansion when heavy rain or fluctuating river water levels occur.

Here, Tu Vu Commune People's Committee has placed warning signs for people to limit travel and activities in areas at risk of unsafety.

With the location in Dong Luan hamlet 13, the riverbank erosion situation continues to be complicated, the scope of erosion arising is about 5-10m of land outside the riverbank, which has approached people's residential land.

Faced with the above situation, Tu Vu Commune People's Committee has requested Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Agriculture and Environment to pay attention to early deployment of investment in a project to handle and overcome.

In particular, on the bank of the Lat stream, landslides also caused cracks in people's house foundations, with the risk of landslides directly affecting the houses of 3 households living along the stream.

Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on the evening of August 23, Mr. Dao Ngoc Ky - Head of the Economic Department of Tu Vu commune said that through initial inspection at Lat stream, the current situation poses a high risk to the safety of lives and property of households, especially in unfavorable weather conditions.

Therefore, people's houses can collapse at any time. Due to the urgency, the Commune People's Committee has arranged forces to be on duty on the spot, and at the same time requested 2 households to move people and property to a safe location from the night of August 21st" - Mr. Ky shared.

Regarding this landslide location, Tu Vu Commune People's Committee has requested Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, Department of Agriculture and Environment to organize inspections and assess the level of danger; guide the Commune People's Committee to have plans to ensure safety for households and appropriate support policies to ensure stability of the situation in the locality.

Previously, from September 2022, the Lat stream bank in zone 2, Tu Vu commune, Thanh Thuy district (old) and Vu hamlet, Luong Nha commune, Thanh Son district (old) was seriously eroded.

At that time, landslides caused many areas of land and some houses and works of people to collapse, being swept away, directly threatening the lives and property of many households in the above 2 communes.

After that, Phu Tho province invested and built an emergency embankment line for both banks of the Lat stream from the confluence with the Da River to the area near Luong Nha bridge. Since then, the above-mentioned section has been stable, without landslides (the new landslide location is in the upstream of Luong Nha bridge).
