On the last day of the year, looking for the person who lost 1.5 million VND
On the afternoon of January 27, Ms. Le Thanh Thuy (42 years old, residing in Vinh Thai commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province) went from Tan Mach village to Thu Luat village (Vinh Thai commune) and picked up 1.5 million VND. This amount of money was wrapped in a piece of undamaged squared paper with the words areca, betel, sticky rice...
The amount of money she found was not large, but with the content written on the note, Ms. Thuy thought of a family going to the Tet market but losing money, it would be very sad. Although she was busy at the end of the year, she immediately went to Vinh Thai Commune Police to find the person who lost it and return it.
Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh - Chief of Vinh Thai Commune Police said that when he received the money wrapped in paper, he and his colleagues at the agency had the same thought as Ms. Thuy, so they immediately tried to find the person who dropped it.
Information about the money Ms. Thuy found was posted on social media by Vinh Thai Commune Police at 6:30 p.m. on January 27 with the caption "Owner of the money, please come to the Commune Police Station quickly" along with a piece of paper wrapping the money.
Not long after that, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (55 years old, residing in Vinh Thai commune) contacted Vinh Thai commune police, saying that she was the owner of the money.
Upon receiving the information, at 9:55 p.m. on January 27, Vinh Thai Commune Police officers went to Ms. Hoa's house to verify.
Lose money, get back a lot of happiness
When the Vinh Thai Commune Police arrived at her house, Mrs. Hoa was already waiting. In the house, Mrs. Hoa was thin and frail, and on the floor was an elderly woman with a deformed leg. Mrs. Hoa was happy, clasped her hands in greeting, then took out a notebook with a page torn out to compare with the paper wrapping the money in the hands of the Vinh Thai Commune Police.
Mrs. Hoa said that the whole family only had 1.5 million VND. She planned to go to the market to buy necessities for Tet, but when she got to the market, she checked her bag and found that she had no money left. She had to buy on credit, then returned home with a heavy heart. Mrs. Hoa lives with a relative who is disabled in the legs and can only stay in one place. On Tet, her grandchild came to visit her, now that she has no money, what will she use to celebrate Tet? Now that she has received the money, she will go pay off the debt and buy a few more things for the coming days.
“We were happy with Ms. Thuy’s spirit of finding lost property and returning it to its owner, and were happy for Ms. Hoa when she received the money back. However, seeing the difficult circumstances, the brothers felt sad when they returned,” Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh shared.
Then, in many ways, Vinh Thai Commune Police connected with local authorities to find ways to support. And surprisingly, when information about the person who received the lost 1.5 million VND was in very difficult circumstances, the online community contacted Vinh Thai Commune Police to support Ms. Hoa.
“Up to this point, the amount of money we have received is more than 100 million VND. We have given Ms. Hoa’s family 5 million VND in advance for Tet, the remaining amount will be recorded after Tet to give to Ms. Hoa’s family” – Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh said.
Ms. Hoa said that this was the warmest and happiest Tet she had ever experienced. “I received the money I lost, I received the affection and care of the Commune Police, the local government and the community. I can only say thank you” – Ms. Hoa was moved.
