In response to the confusing information about the pig's disease, leaders and staff of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Hue City have proactively eaten pigs through quarantine to reassure people. On the morning of August 19, Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Hue City said: "The message we want to convey is that people can completely feel secure in using pork if they ensure clear origin and strictly comply with regulations on food hygiene and safety".
According to Mr. Hung, the total number of pigs in the area is up to hundreds of thousands, most of which are raised in the direction of biosafety. Slow consumption not only affects livestock farmers but also disrupts the market.
The Department recommends that people absolutely do not eat stir-fried soup, immature spring rolls, raw pork; should cook thoroughly at temperatures above 70°C to kill bacteria. Prioritize the selection of products at reputable establishments with veterinary quarantine and slaughter control signs.
When processing, it is necessary to use a knife and chopsticks specifically for raw - cooked meat, wear gloves if there is an open wound and wash your hands with soap after contact with raw meat to avoid cross-infection.
According to statistics from the Hue City Department of Health, from the beginning of the year to August 13, the whole city recorded 42 cases of streptococcus liver disease in 18 communes/wards and 4 deaths.
Of which, from January to May 2025, there were 6 cases; June 2025 there were 16 cases (1 death); July 2025 there were 19 cases (3 deaths); The first 13 days of August 2025 had 1 case.
Thus, the situation of streptococcal diseases in Hue City has increased dramatically compared to previous years, especially in the period from late June to early July 2025.
After that, the number of cases gradually decreased, from the beginning of July 2025 and continuously for 18 days (from July 24 to August 11) no cases were recorded, until August 12, 2025, only 1 case of streptococcal disease reappeared.
The Hue City Department of Health also recommends that people do not panic or "bo away" from pork, because streptococcus Cervical disease can be completely prevented if eaten cooked, drunk boiled water and choose quarantined products.
