The road project to the center of Ban Ho commune is worth more than 11 billion VND, expected to improve traffic infrastructure to the center of Ban Ho commune (old Sa Pa town).
The project is implemented by the Joint Venture of Anh Duc Construction & Trading Company Limited and Quang Sang Construction Investment Company Limited, approved by competent authorities from November 2022, with an expected construction period of 360 days.

The project has a total length of 1.6 km, including: the main route is more than 1.2 km long (from Km22+600 of DT.152 road to Km1+231.03 of the central bridge of Ban Ho commune), the branch to the headquarters of the People's Committee of the commune is more than 0.3 km long and the branch to the central parking lot is 0.119 km long.
However, although nearly a year has passed, there are no machines in the construction area, no workers and no signs of completion.
In early August, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the traffic route leading to the center of Ban Ho commune was still in disarray.
According to observations, due to the slow construction process, people's travel is difficult, posing a potential risk to traffic safety from flooded potholes.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (residing in Ban Ho commune, Lao Cai province) said: "This road has been under construction for several years but is still not completed. Many rainy days, the road has many potholes and elephant potholes flooded, causing many people to fall while passing, posing a high risk of traffic accidents. Therefore, we really hope that the construction unit will speed up the progress, hand over the road soon for use".
In addition, due to having to wait too long, many items of the project have now begun to deteriorate. Observations show that many concrete structures are cracked and covered with moss, sections of the natural steel embankment are rusty, construction materials are exposed to the sun and rain for a long time.
Not only that, at some locations, the roadbed is still subsided, with prolonged stagnation causing serious erosion.

Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tai - Director of the Sa Pa Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the main reason for the project's delay is that there are still 22 households that have not been cleared. Therefore, the contractor is forced to construct the connecting sections, and the sections that can be cleared must be done first, while the sections that have not been cleared must be temporarily left.
"We have worked with the commune and affected households. When the site is completely handed over, the construction unit will deploy machinery and human resources in a synchronous manner. The goal is to be completed by August 30, 2025 to serve the travel and living needs of the people," said Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tai.

Regarding the reflection on the situation of materials, concrete and steel sewers lying around the road, posing a potential risk of accidents, the construction unit quickly deployed excavators to the scene. The components and construction materials have been moved and rearranged neatly, clearing the areas that caused obstacles, ensuring safety for people and vehicles passing through.
For the steel system that has been exposed to rust outdoors for a long time, the contractor said - will handle, leach and repaint the entire surface, absolutely not putting into use substandard components. At the same time, materials that have been exposed to the sun in the past have also been reviewed and evaluated for quality so as not to affect the structure of the project.
