According to the report, the results of implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area since its launch (August 2024 - April 20, 2025), the total number of houses eligible for new construction and repair according to regulations is 1,066 units. Of which, 125 apartments for people with revolutionary contributions (68 newly built, 57 repaired); 941 poor apartments, near-poor households (787 newly built, 154 repaired).

The total number of houses that have been newly built and repaired and handed over to poor households, near-poor households, and households with meritorious services to the revolution is 1,066 units, reaching a rate of 100%.
Accordingly, in 2024, Can Tho has built and repaired 535 houses that have been handed over to poor and near-poor households that meet the prescribed conditions.

In 2025, approval was granted to build new and repair 531 houses and hand them over to 406 poor households, near-poor households, and 125 households with meritorious services to the revolution that meet the prescribed conditions.
As of April 20, 2025, the city has basically completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, and households with meritorious services to the revolution before April 30, 2025, in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).


Regarding the results of mobilizing and using resources to support the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses, the total cost is nearly 62 billion VND. Of which, the budget from the 5% savings source for regular expenditure in 2024 is more than 16 billion VND (based on Resolution No. 159/2024/QH15 and Decision No. 559/QD-TTg dated March 10, 2025); Central budget is nearly 1.6 billion VND; Social mobilization is nearly 41 billion VND; Household contribution is more than 3 billion VND. In addition, more than 2,500 working days were mobilized.

Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen said that the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for families of people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, and near-poor households is an act of profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating gratitude to families of people with meritorious contributions; taking care of the lives and shelters of poor and near-poor households.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City stated that the movement to eliminate temporary houses is not only an immediate task but also a long-term responsibility. In the coming time, Can Tho city will continue to pay attention to and closely direct housing work in each locality, continue to research and propose appropriate and effective solutions; promote better resource mobilization, expand flexible and creative forms of support suitable for the target, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people.
