On September 22, the People's Committee of Can Tho City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Project "Developing a green urban area to adapt to climate change in Nga Bay City" (now Nga Bay Ward and Dai Thanh Ward). This is one of 8 projects started and 10 projects inaugurated, with a total investment of about VND 12,252 billion, welcoming the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

The project "Developing a green urban area adapting to climate change in Nga Bay City" has a total capital of more than 1,211 billion VND (equivalent to 44.45 million Euros), of which the loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) accounts for more than 780 billion VND, the ODA capital is not refunded, more than 40.8 billion VND and the rest is counterpart capital.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ca Lo Anh - Director of the Can Tho City Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project aims to build Nga Bay into a green, modern city with the ability to better cope with the impacts of climate change.
In particular, key items focus on building a drainage system and embankment to reduce flooding; improve wastewater management and environmental sanitation with a treatment plant with a capacity of 3,800 m3/day and night; at the same time, renovating and upgrading the urban space associated with Xang Thoi lake and adjacent parks. The project also includes technical assistance components, enhanced management capacity and investment in natural disaster monitoring and warning equipment to ensure sustainable exploitation.

Mr. Tran Quang Thinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Cau Duong 10 Joint Stock Company, representative of the joint venture contractor for the construction and installation of equipment for the following items: Cai Con Embankment, Soc Trang Embankment, Xeo Vong Embankment, Xang Thoi Lake Embankment, Pham Hung Green Tree Infrastructure, Insurance under the project - affirmed that he will focus on maximum human resources, finance and equipment, commit to ensuring quality, aesthetics and completing the construction earlier than the contract schedule.
At the same time, many traffic and social infrastructure projects such as the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91, schools, hospitals, cultural centers, and social housing in Can Tho City were also started, inaugurated, and created a new look for the city. These projects not only contribute to improving people's lives, but also affirm the city's determination in building a green, civilized urban area, adapting to climate change in the Mekong Delta.
