Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the target of developing participants in health insurance (HI), compulsory social insurance (SI), voluntary insurance, and unemployment insurance in 2025.
Accordingly, the goal is to strive to basically complete and maintain sustainability by November 30, 2025, aiming to achieve and exceed the targets by December 20, 2025.
According to the plan, the number of social insurance participants is 433,364 people, reaching 40% of the workforce of working age (excluding the armed forces and cases of temporary suspension of payment). Of which, compulsory social insurance is 314,472 people, voluntary social insurance is 118,892 people. The number of people participating in health insurance is 3,095,954, reaching an coverage rate of 96.11%. Unemployment insurance has 294,046 participants, equivalent to 100% of the compulsory coverage.
Can Tho proposed many solutions such as strengthening direction, promoting propaganda, reforming administrative procedures, expanding the development of participants; at the same time, strictly inspecting and handling violations, preventing profiteering. The city mobilizes the entire political system to participate, in order to ensure social security, contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development goals in 2025.
According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, it is estimated that by the end of July 2025, the number of people participating in health insurance will be 2,940,836 people, reaching 91.85% of the population, reaching 93.73% of the assigned plan, an increase of 17,500 people over the same period and a decrease of 121,095 people compared to the end of 2024; there are still 196,596 people to be exploited.
