In the face of the complicated developments of African swine fever, the People's Committee of Hung Yen province requested farmers in the area to strengthen epidemic prevention and control measures to protect livestock and minimize economic damage.
According to the People's Committee of Hung Yen province, recently, African swine fever has re-opened in many localities across the country with hundreds of outbreaks recorded. In the province, the first outbreak appeared in Dong Thai Ninh commune.
In the face of the above situation, the province recommends that livestock farming households do not re-herd or raise new livestock when not ensuring disease safety conditions; absolutely do not hide epidemics, do not buy, sell, slaughter or transport sick or suspected sick pigs. Violations will be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law.
The recommended emergency measures include: immediately destroying sick pigs suspected of being sick to avoid spreading; periodic disinfection and poisoning of barns; strictly control the source of breeding pigs and means of transportation to and from livestock farming areas; proactively report when there are signs of abnormality.
People are encouraged to strictly apply biosecurity measures, shift to a closed livestock model, and strengthen coordination with veterinary agencies to monitor epidemics.
African swine fever is a dangerous infectious disease, without vaccines and treatment, and can cause serious damage if not effectively controlled. The People's Committee of Hung Yen province requires all levels, sectors and localities to take drastic action, synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control epidemics to protect the livestock industry.
