On the afternoon of November 6, Road Management Office III.4 (Road Management Area III) said that after many efforts to clear a large amount of dirt and rocks, Truong Son Dong Road at Km194+250 is now partially open.
Kon Tum Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company mobilized workers and machinery to clear rocks, estimating the volume of rocks that fell onto the road to be about 680m3.
At around 11:40 a.m. the same day, the road was partially cleared. People's vehicles passed through Km194+250 to go to Quang Nam province or vice versa to Gia Lai and Kon Tum.
However, the weather in the mountainous area of Truong Son Dong is still raining heavily, in the large streams flowing from upstream. The rocky cliffs along the Truong Son Dong road are steep, trees have fallen, and orphaned rocks occasionally roll down the road, danger is lurking.
Road Management Office III.4 directed Kon Tum Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company to put up danger warning signs and continue to closely monitor landslide sites to ensure safety for people and vehicles passing by.
Also on November 6, at Km202+600 of Truong Son Dong Road, a large tree and rock fell onto the road, blocking traffic and breaking the road railing. The construction unit had to mobilize a large excavator to move and clear the rocks and broken trees.
However, the need to ensure traffic safety in the middle of a high mountain road, dense fog, and the risk of landslides makes workers worried. Meanwhile, the Truong Son Dong road goes through dense forests, without houses, phone signals, or rescue stations.
Kon Tum Province's Hydrometeorological Center issued a warning that from November 5, Kon Plong, Dak Glei, and Tu Mo Rong districts will experience strong winds and heavy rains, and be on guard against flash floods and landslides, especially in communes in the eastern part of Truong Son.
