The North-South expressway component project in the East, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, is 88km long, of which the section through Quang Ngai province is 60.3km long, and was started on January 1, 2023 with a total investment of VND 20,400 billion.
On November 13, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Xuan - Deputy Director of the Communications Department of Deo Ca Group - said that the project is in the finishing stage. Contractors have deployed 50 main construction teams, mobilizing more than 3,100 officers, engineers, workers and 1,150 machines and equipment to work continuously along the entire route. Up to now, the construction volume has reached 88.5% of the contract value, equivalent to VND 11,800/13,343 billion.
Regarding the road, the crushed stone aggregate items have been completed; the asphalt and cement concrete paving work has reached 94-99%. The guardrail system, median strip and anti-glare luoi have been manufactured and assembled in 100%, and are currently completed for installation (reaching 94% and 81% respectively).
For the bridge item, the entire route has 77 bridges, 100% of which have completed the main structure, and are in the stage of installing expansion joints. The expressway also has 3 tunnels across the mountain: tunnel 1 is 0.6km long and tunnel 2 is 0.7km long, the construction has been completed. tunnel 3 is 3.2km long and has been dug and reinforced to 100%, the concrete pouring of tunnel lining is 84% and the construction of the cement concrete road surface is 50%.
To ensure the completion of the entire project, Deo Ca Group has built a detailed schedule for each package (XL1, XL2, XL3). According to the plan, the remaining items such as asphalt concrete, installation of guardrails, median strips, anti-glare nets, along with intersections and overpasses will be completed from November 15 to 25, 2025. In particular, tunnel No. 3 is expected to complete the concrete construction of the left tunnel shell and road surface by the end of November 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, said that the provincial leaders have directed agencies and localities to closely coordinate with construction units to promptly remove obstacles, ensuring no impact on the overall progress. The contents under local authority will be handled urgently, while issues beyond the authority will be coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee to direct; strive to complete all site clearance before November 30, 2025.
During the progress inspection on November 12, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Deputy Minister of Construction - requested Project Management Board 2 and contractors to proactively coordinate with localities, remove arising obstacles, speed up the construction progress in 3 shifts, 4 teams, ensure the quality and safety of the project, and be determined to complete the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway by December 19, 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
