Efforts to reach 48km of expressway
The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project has a total length of 117.5 km, with a total investment of nearly 21,935 billion VND, divided into 3 component projects.
In which, Component Project 1 is 31.5km long, managed by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee; Component Project 2 is 37km long, managed by the Ministry of Construction; Component Project 3 is more than 48km long, managed by Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.
Mr. Dang Tho Dan - Managing Director of Component Project 3, Dak Lak Provincial Traffic and Agriculture Rural Development Construction Investment Project Management Board (Board A) said that by mid-August 2026, the project had completed about 98% of the contract volume.

According to Mr. Dan, the entire route belonging to Component Project 3 is expected to be completed on National Day September 2nd. Currently, contractors are focusing manpower, machinery, equipment, and organizing overtime and shifts to complete the remaining items, ensuring the set progress.
The expressway will contribute to reducing the overload of National Highway 26, which is currently overloaded in the upcoming harvest and transportation of agricultural products" - Mr. Dan said.
According to research, the project implementation process faced many difficulties due to unfavorable weather, fluctuations in fuel and construction material prices. However, the Ministry of Construction, People's Committees of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces, along with investors and contractors, have implemented many solutions to ensure progress.
To date, the construction volume of the entire project has reached more than 82% of the contract value, basically meeting the set plan. In which, the first 20km of the route belonging to Component Project 1 has been put into operation.

Accelerate construction of items
For Component Project 2 invested by the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction), construction conditions also face many challenges.
The height difference between the starting point and the ending point of the route is about 500m, while the complex terrain and geology make it difficult to transport materials, equipment and organize construction.
At the XL01 package construction site, led by the contractor consortium, Deo Ca Group, many construction fronts are being deployed simultaneously.
In which, the Phuong Hoang tunnel, about 1.7km long, is a "rigid road" item, which is decisive for the project progress. The bidding package also includes 10 bridges, mainly viaducts over the valley, and about 5.6km of road.
In Phuong Hoang tunnel alone, nearly 300 officials, engineers and workers are arranged to work continuously with 8 construction teams to speed up progress.
Mr. Nguyen Tai Minh - Deputy Director of Board A said that thanks to the support of all levels of government in site clearance, more than 48km of the expressway through Dak Lak province has basically been completed.
According to Mr. Minh, the province expects the investor of Component Projects 1 and 2 to continue their efforts, ensure the set progress, and soon open the entire Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway, meeting the expectations of people in the area.
Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Truong Cong Thai said that accelerating the progress of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway will not only help put the key project into operation soon but also strengthen the connection between the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast.
The project is expected to create motivation for socio-economic development, expand trade space, and shorten the transportation time of goods and passengers between localities.
