On behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has just signed a decision to award the Certificate of "Fatherland's Merit" to 90 martyrs of the Ministry of National Defense and a number of localities.
Ha Giang province has two martyrs posthumously awarded: Truong Thi Lan - Phong Quang Special Forest Protection Department, Tay Con Linh and Tran Van Khien - Vi Xuyen District Forest Protection Department.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of April 26, 2024, a forest fire occurred in the border area of 3 communes: Lao Chai, Xin Chai, Phuong Tien (Vi Xuyen).
As soon as it was discovered, nearly 1,000 people were mobilized and urgently went to the forest to put out the fire. However, due to the complex terrain of the fire area, which is the peak of the dry season, and limited water resources, many difficulties were encountered.
While extinguishing the fire, two rangers, Truong Thi Lan and Tran Van Khien, died, and several others suffered from smoke inhalation and had to be taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
By the morning of April 27, 2024, the fire in the area was basically under control. Estimated damage is 10 hectares of forest.
