Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced a ban on vehicles crossing Phu Dinh Bridge from June 7 to July 17 for repair and upgrading construction.
After more than a month of temporary ban for repair and expansion, Phu Dinh bridge (connecting the old District 6 and District 8) has officially reopened to traffic. According to records, the peak traffic congestion in this area has been significantly resolved.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, a resident of Phu Dinh ward, said that the bridge expansion has helped traffic stabilize much. "Previously, traffic jams often occurred due to construction. Now the bridge has been reopened to traffic, so traffic has improved significantly," said Mr. Dien.
The authorities have reorganized the traffic diversion plan in the area on the shore of District 6, contributing to reducing the pressure on this route.
In addition, additional traffic lights have been installed at the foot of the bridge.
The area under Lo gom bridge has also been renovated into a one-way street instead of a two-way street as before, contributing to making traffic flow more open and convenient.
Open a new branch of the road right under the bridge, connecting from Nguyen Van Luong Street (old District 6) to Phu Dinh Bridge. Thanks to that, people traveling through this area have more flexible options, avoiding the situation of crowding vehicles at the points of entry and exit to the bridge as before.
Phu Dinh Bridge is currently nearly 100 m long, about 3 m wide, with a maximum load limit of 1 ton and a ban on cars. Despite its small scale, this is still an important route that helps motorbikes move quickly between District 6, the old District 8 and Vo Van Kiet Street.
According to Ho Chi Minh City's plan, a new Phu Dinh bridge on Ring Road 2 will be built in the future.
