On the evening of March 9, a large ancient tree suddenly collapsed in front of a house on Phan Chau Trinh street (Hai Chau ward, Da Nang city), causing a power outage in the area. According to initial information, the incident did not cause any casualties.
According to people, the incident happened at about 8:45 pm. At this time, an ancient tree with a large trunk along the road suddenly uprooted and collapsed in front of a resident's house on Phan Chau Trinh street, dragging along many power lines, causing a power outage in the residential area.
Mr. Tran Nhat, the owner of the house on Phan Chau Trinh street, said that at the time of the incident, there were 5 people in the house.
Hearing a loud explosion, my whole family panicked and ran outside and discovered that the ancient tree had collapsed right in front of the house. Fortunately, at that time everyone was not living near the fallen tree area, so no one was injured. After the incident, family members temporarily moved to relatives' houses to stay because they were worried about unsafety," Mr. Nhat said.
Ms. Le Ai Nga, a resident living on Phan Chau Trinh street, said that at about 8:45 pm she heard a loud noise, so she ran out to check and saw that the ancient tree by the road had collapsed in front of her house. At the same time, electricity in the area was also lost.
This tree has a very large trunk, for many years. Previously, people in the area were also worried because the tree was large, so they petitioned functional agencies to inspect and handle it because they were afraid that the tree could fall at any time," Ms. Nga shared.
Immediately after the incident occurred, functional forces and related units quickly arrived at the scene to blockade the area and prune trees to ensure safety for people.
Recorded at the scene, the uprooted green tree has very large trunks and roots, with lush roots exposed from the ground after collapsing. The trunk of the tree lay across the road, collapsing in front of people's houses. The incident also caused an electrical outage in the surrounding area.
