According to initial information, the fire broke out at around 6:40 a.m. on May 29, at Duy Nhut gas station, Mui hamlet, Dat Mui commune, Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province, owned by Mr. T.B.P, 50 years old, residing at the same address.
At around that time, Ms. T (Mr. P's wife) discovered an electrical short circuit at the No. 2 gas station, located between two oil pumps (the facility had three pumps), immediately cut off the electric knife bridge, use a cloth to soak into water to put out the fire, but could not do so.
The fire continued to spread to oil pumps and then to gas tanks.

When she saw the fire spreading, Ms. T ran outside to escape, shouted for help from the surrounding people and reported it to the authorities.
Upon receiving the report, Dat Mui Commune Police coordinated with the Commune Military Command, Mui Ca Mau National Park, and Dat Mui Border Guard Station to urgently deploy forces and fire fighting equipment.
At about 7:25 a.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished.
According to initial preliminary statistics, the fire damaged the facility's assets by over 200 million VND, along with many other assets.
