On March 26, people in Kinh Te hamlet, Hiep Thanh ward, Ca Mau province discovered smoke and fire rising from a fishing boat with Soc Trang province license plate (old), owned by Mr. T.T. P (48 years old), anchored near Nha Mat estuary.
Because the ship contained many flammable items such as fishing gear, fuel and supplies for exploitation, the fire quickly flared up strongly, engulfing the entire vehicle after only a short time.
Upon receiving the news of the fishing boat fire, Nha Mat Border Guard Station mobilized forces and vehicles, coordinated with fire prevention and fighting forces and people to urgently approach the scene and organize firefighting.
The fire was completely controlled, preventing it from spreading to neighboring fishing boats. However, all assets on board were burned down, estimated damage of more than 500 million VND.
Currently, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
