On December 17, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command said that the unit had just received a quick report on the fire and subsidence of a fishing boat in the sea off the coast, related to the fishing boat QNa 91917-TS of local fishermen.
According to initial information, at around 1:00 a.m. the same day, fishing boat QNa 91917-TS was operating at sea at coordinates 11°47′00′′N - 116°07′00′′E when it suddenly caught fire. The fire spread rapidly, making the ship uncontrollable and then sank. Faced with the dangerous situation, all 55 crew members on the boat had to jump into the sea to escape.

The location of the ship in distress was determined to be about 110 nautical miles from the Northeast of Da Nam Island and more than 535 nautical miles from the Southeast of Son Tra Peninsula (Da Nang). This is a remote sea area, with difficult rescue conditions, especially at night.
The fishing boat QNa 91917-TS has a capacity of 1,242 CV, about 28m long, fishing for squid. The captain is Mr. Huynh Van Anh (53 years old, residing in Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city). The ship departed at 5:30 p.m. on November 11, 2025 at An Hoa Border Control Station (Ky Ha Port Border Guard Station).
Immediately after receiving the information, the authorities promptly deployed rescue work. Currently, three fishing vessels QNa 91234-TS, QNg 95454-TS and PY 90779-TS are approaching the scene to participate in the search and rescue of the crew members.
Colonel Phan Van Thi - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Da Nang City Border Guard - said that the unit has directed border guards and control stations to widely notify fishing vessels operating near the area where the vessels are in distress to increase observation and support search and rescue.
"We also discuss and coordinate with Coast Guard Region 2, Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of regions 2 and 4, as well as the Border Guards of neighboring localities such as Quang Ngai and Dak Lak to mobilize forces and vehicles to support", Colonel Phan Van Thi informed.
Up to now, the Da Nang City Border Guard is still maintaining contact with fishing vessels participating in the rescue at sea, continuously updating the developments of the incident.
The search for crew members in distress is being urgently deployed, with the goal of ensuring the safety of fishermen's lives in remote and complex sea conditions.
