On December 30, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, signed Directive No. 7235/CT-CHK on strengthening measures to ensure aviation safety during the peak period of Tet At Ty 2025.
The Civil Aviation Authority emphasized that in recent times, there have been consecutive aircraft accidents around the world causing serious human losses, such as the Jeju Air B737-800 crash on December 29, 2024, which killed 179/181 people on board in Korea. The Azerbaijan Airlines E190 crash on December 25, 2024, which killed 38/67 people on board in Kazakhstan.
In order to ensure absolute safety in civil aviation activities, especially during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2025 when the density of aviation activities increases, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) requires organizations, agencies and units to seriously implement the work contents.
In particular, the Civil Aviation Authority requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation and Van Don International Airport to strengthen the supervision of vehicle operations in the airport area, promptly detect violations of safety regulations, and coordinate with the Airport Authority to strictly handle violations.
Monitor and promptly provide information on runway conditions that may affect aircraft take-off and landing operations to relevant air traffic control units.
Coordinate with the Airport Authority to strengthen inspection and supervision of compliance with regulations on port safety for construction, renovation, repair and upgrading of runways, taxiways and aprons in the airport area.
Strengthen inspection, collect foreign objects, chase away birds operating in the airport area, strictly control to prevent pets from entering the airport area.
Coordinate with the Airport Authority, local authorities and competent agencies to promptly detect and prevent acts of laser beaming, illegal use of flycams, drones, and kite flying around the airport area that affect flight safety.
Strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate aviation safety regulations; disseminate and propagate for agencies, units and people to properly implement aviation safety regulations.
Review and strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure that emergency coordination procedures, emergency response forces and emergency equipment are always ready to be activated at the highest level to respond to all emergency situations in the airport area.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requires aircraft operators, aircraft and aircraft equipment maintenance organizations; Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation; Airport Authorities; Flight Safety Standards Departments, Flight Operations Management, and Airport Port Management to focus on flight safety.
