On August 4, the leader of Project Management Board 85, the investor of Dai Ngai bridge project said that the construction unit has temporarily suspended vehicles from traveling through Dai Ngai 2 bridge, from the intersection of Nam Song Hau National Highway (Dai Ngai commune, Can Tho city) to the intersection with District 10 (An Thanh commune, Can Tho city) to ensure construction safety and complete legal procedures according to regulations.
The leader of Committee 85 also said that the unit is coordinating to complete the dossier to request permission for small cars and motorbikes to circulate before September 2 according to the proposal of An Thanh commune, Can Tho city. Currently, the section from the intersection of District 10 Road to the intersection of District 8 Road only allows construction vehicles to move.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, the officer in charge of safety of the Dai Ngai 2 bridge project (Construction Corporation No. 1 - CC1) from August 1, vehicles with less than 16 seats, trucks under 3.5 tons, motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles will be allowed to travel through the bridge. The temporary circulation helps people's vehicles travel and transport agricultural products conveniently, quickly, ensuring safety and saving time. However, there have been cases of many vehicles entering the access road under construction, which does not meet safety conditions, endangering both people and the construction site.
"Although there are signs prohibiting and warning ropes at both ends of the intersection (District 8 and District 10), people still arbitrarily drive into the construction site, even doing street vendors on the bridge at night, causing unsafety. In addition, many trucks with large loads exceeding the regulations still deliberately pass through the prohibited area, including vehicles that crash into the gate with limited height. Therefore, the unit has decided to temporarily suspend traffic through the bridge," said Mr. Duc.

Up to now, the main bridge of Dai Ngai 2 bridge has been basically completed, reaching nearly 100% of the volume. Some contractors are continuing to complete the bridge surface aesthetic items. The approach bridges and approach roads at both ends of the bridge are in the loading phase to monitor subsidence. The unloading is expected to take place at the end of October 2025, after which the contractors will continue construction, striving to complete the entire approach road in 2025.
The Dai Ngai bridge project has a total length of more than 15km, with a total cost of nearly VND8,000 billion. The starting point intersects with National Highway 54, in Tieu Can commune, Vinh Long province (formerly Hung Hoa commune, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province). The end point intersects with Nam Song Hau National Highway, in Dai Ngai Commune, Can Tho City (formerly Long Duc Commune, Long Phu District, Soc Trang Province). The project includes 2 main bridge works, Dai Ngai 1 bridge and Dai Ngai 2 bridge. After completion, the project will help open National Highway 60, shortening the distance from the Mekong Delta coastal provinces to Ho Chi Minh City by about 80km.
