Previously, local people discovered a green peacock individual in the house's premises. After that, people voluntarily handed it over to functional agencies.
Through verification, this is a male green peacock (scientific name Pavo muticus) weighing about 6 kg, the bird is still alive and healthy.
According to Phuoc Hoa Commune People's Committee, this is a endangered and rare forest animal belonging to Group IB - a group of species that are prioritized for strict protection according to Vietnamese law and are on the list of species managed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
After receiving it, the commune's functional agencies conducted verification, prepared dossiers and implemented handling steps in accordance with the law. At the same time, Phuoc Hoa Commune People's Committee issued a notice to find the legal owner of this animal before carrying out the next procedures.
Currently, the green peacock has been handed over to Dai Nam Zoo and Botanical Garden Co., Ltd. for care and rescue while waiting for handling according to regulations.
