According to information from Phu Tho Provincial Police on March 23, the Fire and Rescue Police Department discovered a sand dredging vessel with license plate TB1456 sinking in the Red River area, Cao Dai, Vinh Thanh commune, Phu Tho province.
At the time of the incident, there were 2 missing people (identity not yet determined).
Immediately after grasping the information, leaders of Phu Tho Provincial Police directly arrived at the scene to direct search and rescue work.
The Fire and Rescue Police Department urgently dispatched 1 command vehicle, 1 rescue vehicle, 1 military vehicle and 16 officers and soldiers and full specialized equipment to serve the underwater search and rescue work, quickly approaching the scene.
Due to complex weather and hydrological conditions, the search area had strong currents, and the distressed vehicle was large in size and heavily loaded, causing many difficulties for rescue and relief work.

At about 2:39 PM on the same day, functional forces found and brought 1 victim's body ashore.
Currently, the forces continue to maintain troops and vehicles, closely coordinate with functional agencies to urgently search for the remaining victims; and at the same time develop and deploy plans to salvage sunken vehicles, ensuring absolute safety for participating forces and surrounding areas.
