At noon on June 18, Mr. Nguyen Viet Duong (40 years old, in Ha Dong, Hanoi) has a level 2 electronic identification account, so his VNeID app integrates many utilities. Including the "Documentary Office" utility. In this section, there is a section " Marriage status". When accessing this section, information about marital status has not been updated.
"I and many others probably hope that information about the marital status will be integrated on VNeID soon so that the related administrative procedures will be faster and more concise" - Mr. Duong shared.
Like Mr. Duong, Ms. Luong Thi Ha (25 years old, from Phu Tho) has a level 2 electronic identification account. In the " Marriage status" section on Ms. Ha's VNeID, the information has not been updated.
Many other individuals also tried to access the marriage status section on VNeID but also received automatic notification that there was no such information.
In early June 2025, Mr. Duong and Ms. Ha informed the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, and the Supreme People's Court about the launch of a 9-day and night peak to clean up marriage data and implement a reduction in marriage confirmation procedures.
The authorities said that data on marital status is one of the important components in the National Population Database, directly affecting many essential public services such as birth registration, marriage registration, divorce settlement, inheritance, death, asset transfer, etc.
However, in reality, this data is currently not synchronous and incomplete, causing difficulties and inconveniences for people, consuming resources of the State and society.
Through this peak period, information about marriage, divorce, and single status will be updated accurately, promptly, and synchronously on the national information system, while displaying publicly and transparently on the VNeID national identification application, with legal value and being authenticated by competent authorities, ensuring high reliability.
Up to now, nearly half a month, many provinces and cities have launched a 9-day peak period to clean up marriage data. In particular, on June 10, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Plan No. 162/KH-UBND on organizing a 9-day and night peak period to clean up marriage data and reduce procedures to confirm marital status in the city.
Most recently, on the first day of last week, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document directing the implementation of a 9-day and night peak campaign to review and clean up marriage data, gradually reducing the procedures for confirming marital status throughout the city.
According to information from the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (Ministry of Public Security), localities are still cleaning up data. Up to now, there are no specific figures.
Data cleaning includes many related stages and tasks such as: Standarizing and synchronizing marriage and divorce data, confirming marital status from electronic household registration and court databases to the National Population Database under the Ministry of Public Security; Digitizing and cleaning divorce information data according to court judgments and decisions to update to the National Population Database, and displaying them on VNeID.
