On December 24, Mr. Dang Van Dung - Director of the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project (Project Management Board 7, Ministry of Construction) confirmed that the unit had completed the repair of technical problems on the 13km section at the end of the route. Previously, 70.3km of the project was put into operation from April 19.
Previously, there was information circulating on social networks that the expressway had been damaged and the road surface had been patched.
Regarding this, Mr. Dang Van Dung said that during the prolonged flood in November, some locations of the road surface were affected, causing local damage. Project Management Board 7 has requested relevant units to urgently fix and handle the situation completely.
"Up to now, the problems on the last 13km section of the route have been handled. On December 25, the Central working group will inspect many expressways, including the Van Phong - Nha Trang route, Mr. Dung informed.
Regarding the expressway being technically open to traffic but not having rest stops and toll stations, Mr. Dang Van Dung said that these are independent packages, which will be implemented in the next phase in accordance with regulations.

In December 2025, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) coordinated with the Vietnam Road Administration to organize a review and on-site inspection of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway (about 83km long). Through inspection, the working group recorded many shortcomings and unreasonable things that directly affected traffic safety. Although temporary stops have been arranged, the entrance to the station is still bumpy, lacking lighting, and posing a potential risk of accidents.
Notably, the expressway is being exploited at a maximum speed of 90km/h, while according to the design documents, the permitted speed is less than 10km/h.
drainage, lighting and painting systems have been basically invested in, however, at some locations, drainage ditches are released directly to the foot of the next road, which is at risk of causing reverse seepage, weakening the road foundation, leading to subsidence and road surface.
The fence protecting the highway corridor (B40 grid, barbed wire) at some sections has also been dismantled but has not been repaired. The working group recorded many cases of cows and cattle entering the highway corridor, posing a great risk of traffic accidents.
At curved sections, the super high slopes have not been fully reviewed to adjust the speed appropriately. The Traffic Police Department recommends adding paint on the brakes and warning signs to ensure safety for vehicles.
Particularly from Co Ma intersection to Van Gia intersection, the road surface appears to be level and concave; at Km333+600, there is still a hole about 20cm deep, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.
On the other hand, from Nha Trang to Co Ma, many wave- rolling corrugated iron locations are damaged and crooked but have not been repaired in time.
At Co Ma intersection, the working group proposed adding a warning system and speed limit on the turn lane to National Highway 1; studying the replacement of soft tieules with materials to ensure safety...
