On July 4, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau chaired a meeting with departments and branches to review the operational situation after merging the three localities.
At the meeting, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau listened to 12 opinions from departments, branches, and many explanations from leaders of the City People's Committee and People's Council. Here, the Chairman also directed the implementation of 25 important tasks in the coming time.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested that departments and branches urgently complete the internal apparatus according to the approved project, including public service units. The establishment of land fund development centers needs to be accelerated.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that clearly assigning responsibilities to Directors and Deputy Directors of departments and branches is to avoid the situation of pushing work, ensuring continuous and timely operations.
The issue of public housing for cadres and civil servants who are mobilized and rotated after the merger is identified as a top priority. The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to create accommodation conditions and support travel so that cadres and civil servants can soon stabilize their lives.
The Department of Finance strictly manages public assets, fully composes statistics on facilities and offices and assigns clear management responsibilities to avoid losses. The Department also needs to review revenue sources, expenditure plans, and budget estimates to prepare for the latest People's Council meeting on July 11.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the Department of Finance to coordinate with sectors to update the growth scenario, striving to achieve the growth target of over 8.4% from now until the end of the year.
The review of projects with investment policies and projects with investors but no land is also emphasized to promote procedures, put projects into operation soon, contribute to economic growth, solve employment and collect budget revenue. Major projects such as the Oncology Hospital, the Western Ring Road, the Can Tho City Development Project and the enhancement of urban adaptability also need to be handled centrally.
In addition, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City also requested departments and branches to pay attention to supporting investors to speed up the progress of non-budget projects such as VSIP Industrial Park, O Mon Thermal Power Plant project cluster, Lot B gas pipeline. The Department of Construction is assigned to develop a flood prevention and control plan for the city center and review urban planning.
According to the report of the Department of Construction, in the period of 2025 - 2030, the whole city will have 942 cadres in need of public housing, of which 87 people are Deputy Directors of the Department and equivalent or higher. To solve this problem, Can Tho is implementing many options: renovating and repairing the Southwest Guest House and Guest House No. 2; reviewing old houses and public housing on public property to convert functions.
The City People's Council has agreed to use the state budget to invest in the construction of 310 apartments with a budget of about 365 billion VND. At the same time, the city has about 500 social housing units being implemented in projects such as Gia Phuc social housing apartment, Hong Loan 5C, Nam Long 2 and social housing apartments under the An Phu Eco City Project.
