Mr. Khoa said that due to prolonged heavy rain, some places in Duong Dong ward and communes such as Cua Duong, Duong To, and Ham Ninh were flooded, with the deepest water level being about 1 meter.

Mr. Khoa informed that up to now, there has not been much damage recorded. Since yesterday (September 17), the authorities have sent excavators to quickly clear some bottlenecks, and the situation has improved. In the near future, specialized departments will coordinate with communes and wards to conduct thorough surveys to invest in upgrading or repairing the drainage system and roads according to their capacity. At the same time, the city has directed Steering Committee 389 to strengthen inspection and supervision of prices, supply of consumer goods, vegetables, etc.
"Those who increase prices or hoard goods unreasonably will be punished and small traders will be encouraged to comply with regulations and share with each other in difficult times. According to the forecast, the weather is still quite bad, there will be more thunderstorms, the high-speed train will have to temporarily stop operating for a few more days to wait for the weather to improve," Mr. Khoa emphasized.
According to the Hydrometeorological Station of Kien Giang province, Phu Quoc city continues to have moderate to heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain with common rainfall from 30-50mm, some places over 60mm. The inner-city roads of Duong Dong ward are flooded during heavy rain and drained after the rain ends about 3-4 hours. The areas of Cay Thong Trong, Cay Thong Ngoai, Ben Tram, and Suoi Cat hamlets are likely to be flooded for 1 to 2 days.
On September 17 and 18, the Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee and leaders of several departments went to directly inspect flooded areas in the area.
