The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just sent a document to relevant units regarding the arrangement of parking lots to serve passengers on Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the proposal of the Department of Construction to assign the Youth Volunteer Public Service Company Limited to organize a temporary motorbike parking lot at the Sen Hong stage (old), in area B of 23/9 Park.
Parking lot for metro passengers until the city directs site clearance to start construction of the park or implement pilot projects to exploit urban railway infrastructure assets and parks according to its authority.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to guide land procedures and related regulations for the Youth Volunteer Public Service Company Limited to implement in accordance with regulations.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City allowed the organization of a temporary motorbike parking lot in Area A of 23/9 Park, with an entrance on Le Lai Street, near Ben Thanh Station and Ben Thanh Market, convenient for passengers to park their vehicles on the metro.
However, during the use of the site, due to the adjustment of planning and exploitation, the Youth Volunteer Public Service Company Limited proposed to relocate the parking lot to Area B.
Area B of 23/9 Park is located within the scope of Pham Ngu Lao, Nguyen Thi Nghia, Ton That Tung and Le Lai streets.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, this area is managed by the Ho Chi Minh City Land Fund Development Center, including the above ground and the basement below the old Sen Hong stage area. Currently, the basement has been signed a construction contract as a shopping and food area, so the arrangement of a parking lot here is facing many difficulties.
Therefore, the Department of Construction proposed to use the above site of Area B as a parking lot after relocating from Area A.
Although the distance from the new parking lot to Ben Thanh metro station is about 500 m longer than before, the Department of Construction assessed that the old Sen Hong stage area still has many advantages in terms of traffic connection.
From the parking lot, passengers can move conveniently to the entrances and exits of Ben Thanh Station. The surrounding area has been fully equipped with a traffic light system, pedestrian crossings, ensuring safety and smooth traffic.
